Biological Activity

2'-C-Methyladenosine is a nucleoside analog and inhibitor of hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication with an IC50 of 0.3 µM in Huh-7 cells. Intracellularly, it is converted to 2'-C-methyladenosine triphosphate, which acts as a chain terminator and directly inhibits HCV NS5B RNA-dependent RNA polymerase with an IC50 of 1.9 µM. This blockade suppresses viral RNA synthesis and inhibits replicon propagation. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
