Biological Activity
2-APQC is a small-molecule activator of SIRT3. By targeting SIRT3 to regulate mitochondrial homeostasis, it suppresses downstream cellular stress, effectively alleviating myocardial hypertrophy and cardiac fibrosis. Through these mechanisms, 2-APQC exerts significant cardioprotective potential in both in vitro and in vivo models, representing a novel therapeutic candidate for the treatment of heart failure and related cardiovascular dysfunction. Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
