Biological Activity

1A-116 is a small-molecule Rac1 inhibitor that targets Rac1-GEF signaling interactions. By blocking guanine nucleotide exchange factor-mediated Rac1 activation, it impairs downstream actin cytoskeleton reorganization, membrane ruffling, and lamellipodia formation. Consequently, 1A-116 suppresses cell proliferation, migration, and cycle progression while promoting apoptotic pathways, resulting in marked antitumoral and antimetastatic effects across multiple malignancies, including breast cancer.[1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
