Biological Activity

TLQP-21 TFA is a VGF-derived neuropeptide that acts as a potent agonist of complement component 3a receptor 1 (C3aR1). Upon receptor engagement, TLQP-21 induces C3aR1 activation via a folding-upon-binding mechanism, triggering intracellular calcium mobilization and downstream intracellular signaling cascades. This peptide plays key functional roles in regulating lipolysis, energy expenditure, microglial activation, and pain pathways. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
