Biological Activity

Tirzepatide sodium is a synthetic dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. Activation of GIP and GLP-1 receptors stimulates cAMP signaling pathways, which enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion, improves glycemic control, and regulates lipid metabolism. Furthermore, agonist engagement differentially promotes receptor internalization and downstream endosomal signaling, leading to sustained metabolic regulation in preclinical cell and animal models. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
