Biological Activity

HIV Peptide T (Peptide T) is a synthetic octapeptide antiviral agent that functions as a competitive inhibitor of HIV envelope protein gp120 binding to the CD4 receptor. It also displays homologous binding affinity to vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) receptors. By blocking gp120 interaction with CD4 receptors, HIV Peptide T prevents viral attachment and attenuates downstream inflammatory cytokine production and cytokine-mediated signaling pathways. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
