Gastrin Tetrapeptide (CCK-4) is a C-terminal tetrapeptide derivative of gastrin that acts as an agonist of the cholecystokinin-2 (CCK2/CCK-B) receptor. Upon binding to the CCK2 receptor, it activates intracellular signaling cascades such as G-protein-mediated phospholipase C and calcium mobilization. This signaling promotes gastric acid secretion and supports mucosal maintenance and protection in the gastrointestinal tract. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
