Dynorphin (1-17) is an endogenous opioid peptide that functions as a potent agonist of the kappa opioid receptor (KOR), while also displaying agonist activity toward mu opioid receptors (MOR) and delta opioid receptors (DOR). Activation of KOR modulates G-protein-coupled signaling pathways, inhibiting adenylyl cyclase activity and regulating presynaptic neurotransmitter release, which plays key roles in nociception, reward processing, and stress responses.
