Biological Activity

Description Florfenicol (SCH-25298,(-)-Florfenicol) is a fluorinated synthetic analog of thiamphenicol with broad-spectrum, primarily bacteriostatic activity.
In vitro

Florfenicol is found to stimulate algal growth at concentrations of 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 mg/L, and significantly inhibit algal growth at >2.0 mg/L.

In vivo

Florfenicol administers at doses of 15 and 20 mg FFC kg(-1) bw per days for 10 days significantly reduces mortality associated with francisellosis in Nile tilapia.
