Description

Cucurbitacin-I (Elatericin B, JSI 124, NSC 521777), a natural cell-permeable triterpenoid isolated from Cucurbitaceae, is a novel selective inhibitor of JAK2/STAT3.

Cucurbitacin-I (Elatericin B, JSI 124, NSC 521777) can efficiently inhibit the proliferation of GBM cells by blocking phosphorylation of STAT3, which in turn lead to the downregulation of antiapoptotic gene products and promote apoptosis. In addition, JSI-124 induced G2/M phase arrest in GBM via downregulation of cyclin B1 and cdc2 expression.<a class="sref" href="#s_ref">[1]</a> <a class="sref" href="#s_ref">[2]</a><a class="sref" href="#s_ref">[3]</a>

Cucurbitacin I (JSI-124) dose-and time-dependently inhibited the proliferation of U251 and A172 cells.
