AZ505 is a potent and selective inhibitor of SMYD2 with an IC50 of 0.12 μM.

AZ505 inhibits the binding of SMYD2 to the miR-125b promoter region (based on chromatin immunoprecipitation assays) and suppresses clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) cells migration and invasion by inhibiting the SMYD2/miR-125b/DKK3 pathway. <a class="sref" href="#s_ref">[2]</a>

In vivo

AZ505 treatment resulted in the decrease of the tumor sizes and weights in the renal cell carcinoma xenograft model mice. <a class="sref" href="#s_ref">[2]</a>
