Biological Activity

Description Topiroxostat is a xanthine oxidoreductase (XOR) inhibitor and used for treatment of gout and hyperuricemia. Topiroxostat exhibits weak CYP3A4-inhibitory activity (18.6%). Topiroxostat has the potential for hyperuricemia treatment.
Targets
XOR [1]
In vitro Topiroxostat shows both structure- and mechanism-based inhibition of XOR[1].
In vivo Topiroxostat showed to suppress urinary albumin excretion dose-dependently and to inhibit the plasma XOR activity potently in diabetic nephropathy model. Therefore, it is possible that topiroxostat could protect or ameliorate microvascular injury and diabetic complications including DN in which ROS is involved as a pathogenetic factor[1].
