Biological Activity

Description Forsythin (FOR, Phillyrin) is an active ingredient extracted from the fruit of the medicinal plant Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl and has been shown to have antioxidant, antibacterial and antiinflammatory properties.
In vivo The results of acute toxicity tests in mice reveal that the maximum-tolerated dose (MTD) of forsythin is greater than 18 100 mg/kg. In the sub-chronic toxicity tests in rats, the no-observed-adverse-effect-level (NOAEL) is observed after 30 days at the concentration of 6480 mg/kg body weight. The use of forsythin in vivo is safe[1].
