| Description | Forsythin (FOR, Phillyrin) is an active ingredient extracted from the fruit of the medicinal plant Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl and has been shown to have antioxidant, antibacterial and antiinflammatory properties. |

| In vivo | The results of acute toxicity tests in mice reveal that the maximum-tolerated dose (MTD) of forsythin is greater than 18 100 mg/kg. In the sub-chronic toxicity tests in rats, the no-observed-adverse-effect-level (NOAEL) is observed after 30 days at the concentration of 6480 mg/kg body weight. The use of forsythin in vivo is safe[1]. |
