Biological Activity

Description Flupentixol (Flupenthixol) dihydrochloride, an antipsychotic neuroleptic drug, is a powerful antagonist of both D1 and D2 dopamine receptors and also an alpha-adrenergic receptor antagonist.
In vitro

Flupenthixol, with its broad receptor profile, interacts with a variety of dopamine and serotonin binding sites which are important in the neurobiology of alcohol dependence. Flupenthixol antagonizes dopamine binding at a number of receptor subtypes, primarily at D1, D2, D3 and with less affinity at D4 receptors, and also affects serotonin binding at 5-HT2A and 5-HT2C receptors as well as noradrenaline binding at α1-adrenergic receptors[1].
