| Description | Rusfertide (PTG-300) is a hepcidin mimetic that targets ferroportin, inducing its internalization and degradation to block cellular iron export into the blood. By limiting transferrin saturation (TSAT), it reduces systemic labile iron toxicity and prevents organ iron deposition. Rusfertide exhibits the potential treatment for Hereditary Hemochromatosis and hemoglobinopathies like beta-thalassemia and also helps to improve anemia by promoting more effective erythropoiesis. |
