Description

Specificity p63 Rabbit Recombinant mAb detects endogenous level of total p63.
Background p63 is a p53-related protein. It is expressed as three major forms, p63α, p63β and p63γ, each of which differ in their C-termini. p63 expression has been reported to be suppressed under conditions of DNA damage. p63γ exhibits strong transactivation of promoters that contain p53 response elements and is a potent inducer of cell death, whereas p63α has no detectable transactivation activity. p63 has cellular activities that are both similar to and different from those of the other p53 family members. p63 has both positive and negative gene regulatory roles: it can induce expression of some target proteins, such as JAG1 and PERP, while suppressing others, as in the case of p21 and 14–3–3σ.
