Biological Activity

Description Insulin (human) (Insulin regular) is a polypeptide hormone that regulates the level of glucose. Insulin is commonly used to treat hyperglycemia in patients with diabetes. Potency: 29 units/mg.
In vitro

Insulin, an inducer of AKT phosphorylation, reduces the levels of LC3-II, VP1 by the AKT-AMPKMAPK-MTOR pathway in SVV-infected cells.[2]

Protocol (from reference)

Cell Assay:

[2]

  • Cell lines

    BHK-21 cells and PK-15 cells

  • Concentrations

    200 ng/ml

  • Incubation Time

    1 h

  • Method

BHK-21 cells and PK-15 cells are grown to 80% confluence in well plates and pretreated with insulin (200 ng/ml) for 1 h. The pretreated cells are then infected with SVV for 1 h. The cells are then washed with phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) and incubated with new medium containing the same chemical reagents. Cell viability in the presence of chemical reagents is tested.
