Specificity	GDNF Rabbit Recombinant mAb detects endogenous level of total GDNF.
Background	Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), a member of the TGFβ superfamily that signals via cell-surface tyrosine kinase receptors, is considered an essential neuroprotective ligand for midbrain dopaminergic neurons. GDNF is also shown to have a protective effect against methamphetamine induced dopamine depletion related neurotoxicity. In addition, GDNF has important roles outside the nervous system. It acts as a morphogen in kidney development and regulates the differentiation of spermatogonia.
